Transcarpathian Academic Regional Puppet Theater was established in 1980, and in 1988 it received its premises in the city center, a building that dates back to the beginning of the last twentieth century. In the 20s, the premises housed the first Ukrainian professional theater in the region, whose team was headed for two years by the genius Mykola Sadovsky.
Given the regions geographical location, its multinational composition, special attention is paid to the formation of repertoire.
Owing to the development of rich folklore traditions in the Transcarpathian region, its fairy tales, ballads, songs, the theater has acquired a peculiar, unique image, its own flavor. A prominent place in the repertoire is occupied by works of Ukrainian authors, fairy tales of the peoples of the world.
The theater is headed by the artistic director Myroslav PETIY, a person with professional education and experience in creative and organizational work. The creative process is implemented by an acting troupe of 15 members headed by the chief director of the theater, Honored Artist of Ukraine Natalia ORIESHNIKOVA.
A new stage of creative activity of the Transcarpathian Academic Regional Puppet Theater, its professional growth began in 1990, when the theater initiated the International Festival of Theaters for Children INTERLYALKA. Considerable merit in holding the festival belongs to its inspirer and the first organizer, Honored Worker of Culture of Ukraine Oleksandr TURIANYTSYA. In 1997, the festival was included in the International Association of Theater Workers of the World (UNIMA).
The festival promotes the intensification and strengthening of creative ties between the theaters in Ukraine and the countries, first of all, the countries of the Carpathian Euroregion (Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Poland), as well as the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Yugoslavia, Austria, Germany, Belgium, France, Georgia, Argentina, Italy, etc. With each subsequent festival, the geography of its participants is expanding. In October 2019, the theater hosted the XVII International Festival Interlyalka.
The theater team successfully participates in international festivals of various levels, and has implemented several ambitious grant projects, both foreign and of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation.

Kyiv Municipal Academic Puppet Theater On the Left Bank of the Dnieper, Kyiv, UKRAINE
Kyiv Municipal Academic Puppet Theater on the left bank of the Dnipro River (formerly Kyiv City Puppet Theater) was created in 1983 owing to the activity and direct participation of the Peoples Artist of Ukraine Serhiy YEFREMOV. However, the formation of the creative group took place in 1981 based on the branch of the Republican Puppet Theater. In the process of its activity, it became clear that the staff of the branch could exist as an independent entity. Therefore, the branch was reorganized into an independent puppet theater.
The company got its own premises only in 1997 - in the walls of the former cinema, where the theater is still located. Then, successfully touring the world, the Kyiv City Puppet Theater became a laureate of international festivals in Poland, Hungary, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Slovakia, Yugoslavia, Mexico, Portugal, France and gained great popularity in Ukraine. The theater team has been repeatedly awarded high awards for the best directing and acting skills. Creative young people are gaining experience on the theatrical stage along with the renowned founders of the theater. Today, the theaters repertoire includes numerous performances for audiences of all ages and grandiose creative plans for the future.
